Hi 👋 Thank you for bringing our attention to this website, we weren't familiar with it. https://devcontainers.org/ is not owned or maintained by https://github.com/devcontainers. We'd suggest not referring to it, and using https://containers.dev/ instead. Out of curiosity, @iemejia how did you find https://devcontainers.org/ ? We'd try to find and get in touch with the owner and creator of https://github.com/devcontainers as a follow up. |
Mmm interesting I really was confused that it was a MS site but it really looks like it is trying to appear like a website associated with the devcontainers org, specially with the github icon redirecting to the github devcontainers org and the Microsoft copyright in the bottom. I found it just by chance, looking for the lifecycle part of the spec (that btw deserves a bit of love). At least it was not one of the first results in both google or bing. I hope we get to get in touch with the author. |
Closing as I believe devcontainers.org is no longer live! |
As a user it is really confusing to find two different websites for the devcontainers specification.
The only relevant document in https://devcontainers.org that is not avaiable in https://containers.dev is the living spec. We should probably move that one and fix #25 (as a side effect).
Finally there are many broken links on devcontainers.org and it is clearly unmaintained :
