Filter mempool transactions

I would like to know if there's a possibility of filtering mempool transactions just as one does to mined transactions via events?

e.g provider.on('pending', listener, filter) ? yea, I know this syntax is wrong.

I've searched everywhere on the web, and I'm starting to lose hope that this is even possible.

Would appreciate any response.
