Working with custom hosted gitlab and docker

Hi, from the documentation it is not quite clear to me how to run it, and just trying to run it without any arguments (after a docker login to our registry) it fails by trying to pull images from local-registry. instead of registry.. It pulls in the components just fine though, so it can properly communicate with gitlab itself. Do I have to do anything special to make it pull the images from our docker registry?
